Paul A. Reynolds Visits North Smithfield Elementary School in Rhode Island for Family Literacy Night

North Smithfield Elementary School (NSES) in Rhode Island celebrated Reading Week 2026 the week of March 9th-13th! Paul A. Reynolds, author of Going Places! joined NSES on Thursday March 12th for ‘Create Bravely Day’ - in honor of Paul and Peter Reynolds’ famous children’s books! The children were encouraged to wear polka dots, based off of the book The Dot, or to dress ‘Ish-ly’, based on the book Ish!

NSES held Family Literacy Night for their school community, where Paul had a meet-and-greet with students, faculty, and parents. There were various stations with hands-on activities for students (and adults!) to apply and unleash their creativity, using the power of words. Activities included creating “Ish” masterpieces, a Going Places! STEM challenge, Dreamy Reading Under the Stars, “Book of Your Dreams” station, yoga and karaoke, and more!

North Smithfield Elementary School has also decided to incorporate Peter and Paul Reynolds’ NEW program, the Create Bravely Peter H. Reynolds Year-Long Story Activation Tool Kit (PHRx12 for short)! The Reynolds Center for Teaching, Learning and Creativity aims to inspire as many schools and communities as they can!
