The Water Princess Exclusive Video Event is Over.
But we’re here to help you bring it to your school year round!
We were so pleased to share the animated adaptation of The Water Princess with you, which we were able to make available for one week thanks to the generosity of our colleagues at Scholastic/Weston Woods.
While the event is over, you can still get access to the streaming rights for this film and ten other animated films in the Peter H. Reynolds collection! Please reach out to info@reynoldstlc.org, and we’ll help you make that happen!
About The Water Princess film:
Inspired by the childhood of super model Georgie Badiel, The Water Princess welcomes us into the world of young Princess Gie Gie, who lives with her family in a village in Burkina Faso, Africa.
FableVision Studios and Scholastic Weston Woods collaborated to produce the animated version of the book The Water Princess, written by Georgie Badiel with Susan Verde, illustrated by Peter H. Reynolds, and published by Penguin Random House in 2016. Staying true to the art style of the book, FableVision made a faithful recreation of the same rich, warm colors as the original Peter H. Reynolds illustrations. The film follows the trajectory of the original book, with two new visual scenes added at key moments to maintain a comfortable balance between engaging visuals and voice-over dialogue.
As founder of The Georgie Badiel Foundation, Georgie encourages educators and community leaders to use The Water Princess, to engage, educate, and inspire students to become global citizens and join their mission to bring clean, potable water to the millions who lack this precious, life-giving resource.
