China’s Shenzhen Nanshan Huitong School Named as First Global AmbassaDOT

The Reynolds Center has named Shenzhen Nanshan Huitong School as its first Official International Dot Day Lead AmbassaDOT.  Shenzhen Nanshan Huitong School , based in Shenzhen, China, is an innovative PreK-G12 school with strong local roots and a global outlook, that dares to imagine, honors potential, and forges connections. An official certificate was presented to Shenzhen Nanshan Huitong School recently to commemorate the school’s AmbassaDOT status.

The recognition resulted from Shenzhen Nanshan Huitong School’s extraordinary understanding,  adoption, and implementation of International Dot Day in Shenzhen over the past several years.  RC-TLC’s mission is to serve the global learning community through its signature mix of edtech tools and storytelling that foster creative human potential in ways that bring the world to a better place.

Its International Dot Day (IDD) program – based on the themes of RC-TLC’s Co-Founder Peter H. Reynolds’ acclaimed book The Dot - has already reached over 26 million teachers, librarians and students in over 190 countries – encouraging participants to cultivate their creativity, and use their gifts, talents and strengths to make a positive mark on the world.

“Reynolds Center TLC is confident that the Shenzhen Nanshan Huitong School’s leadership -  and inspiring example - will help amplify the Dot Day creativity movement all across China,” shared Paul Reynolds, Executive director of RC-TLC.

Shenzhen Nanshan Huitong School and RC-TLC share a commitment to improving the lives of young people through education - with a particular focus on fostering creativity and confidence.

At Huitong, we consider it essential for children to develop and utilize their innate creativity. We firmly believe that everyone possesses a creative spark, but we also recognize the importance of continually nurturing and honing this skill. The moral of the book "The DOT," regardless of its connection to the arts, serves as an exemplary lesson for both our young and mature students in comprehending the significance of taking risks,” said Alessandro Antonicelli,
Head of Creative Arts and Design at the school.

The Shenzhen Nanshan Huitong School and Reynolds Center TLC will be working in partnership to increase awareness of and participation in the International Dot Day program; plans include virtual visits with Peter H. Reynolds; a goal of recruiting  up to 10 additional schools in China to participate in IDD 2023; expanded Dot Day communication across China through Red Book and WeChat.

“It is our shared expectation that our combined efforts will catalyze the extraordinary impact that International Dot Day is having around the world - inspiring many more students, educators and families to cultivate purposeful, positive creativity to move the world to a better place,” Reynolds said.
