Inspiring Hundreds of Young Dreamers at Camp Curiosity

The Reynolds Center for Teaching, Learning & Creativity (RC-TLC) had the privilege of joining hundreds of children and families at Camp Curiosity in Owensboro, Kentucky, for a joyful celebration of creative storytelling.

Founded to support students from multilingual and migrant families, Camp Curiosity provides a welcoming environment where young learners can strengthen academic skills, build confidence, and discover the power of their own voices. During a special camp-wide gathering, author and illustrator Peter H. Reynolds and RC-TLC Executive Director Paul Reynolds connected with hundreds of students, educators, and families, sharing stories and encouraging children to embrace their creativity and imagine bold futures.

Author and illustrator Peter H. Reynolds speaks with children at Camp Curiosity in Owensboro, Kentucky, as students enthusiastically raise their hands during a celebration of storytelling and creativity.

What made the experience especially meaningful was the diversity and resilience of the young people gathered in the room. Many of the campers come from migrant and multilingual families and bring rich cultural experiences and perspectives to their classrooms and communities. The energy in the room was electric as students asked questions, shared dreams, and discovered common ground through stories and imagination.

At RC-TLC, we believe creativity is a universal language. Whether a child speaks English, Spanish, Swahili, Arabic, or any other language, the ability to express ideas, tell stories, and dream boldly connects us all. Moments like Camp Curiosity remind us that when we create spaces where every child feels seen, heard, and valued, extraordinary things can happen.

We are deeply grateful to the educators, organizers, and families who made this event possible. Most importantly, we thank the hundreds of young dreamers who reminded us why our work matters.
