International Dot Day at The Museum of Fine Arts, Boston

On Saturday, Sept 9, join The Museum of Fine Arts, Boston to celebrate International Dot Day and the 20th anniversary of The Dot book, which inspires all to believe in themselves and find the courage to “make their mark.”

Create your own artwork, go on a StoryWalk, and participate in a book reading and signing with the author, Peter H. Reynolds, a New York Times best-selling author and illustrator.

All ages and abilities are welcome; children must be accompanied by an adult. See Visiting with Kids and Family for more information. Weather permitting, outside activities are free for all; indoor events are free with a general admission ticket. No registration required. Complimentary stroller self-parking available all day in the Education Center in Druker Family Pavilion, 159.

Book Readings

Join Peter H. Reynolds for a reading of his children’s book The Dot.


Book Signing

12–1 pm & 3–4 pm

Purchase one of Peter H. Reynolds’s books in the shop and get it signed by the author. Pre-signed copies also available in the Linde Family Wing Bookstore and Shop.


The Dot StoryWalk

10 am–4 pm
Walk around the Museum to read The Dot on a unique series of signs featuring pages of the book. The story begins on the Huntington Avenue Lawn to Forsyth Way, to the Fenway, to Museum Road, back to the Huntington Avenue Lawn.


Drop-In Art Making

10 am–4 pm
Connect the dots and make your mark! Use provided watercolors and drawing materials to create colorful artwork inspired by The Dot and rediscover the power and potential of creativity in all that we do.
