About the Event
CULMINATING PAPER FLOWER PLANTING & GROUP PHOTO EVENT ON AUG. 25, 2018
GROUP PHOTO AT 1 P.M. ON PARCEL 14 - BETWEEN MERCANTILE ST. AND STATE ST.
The Rose Kennedy Greenway will host a StoryWalk of New York Times bestselling author/illustrator Peter H. Reynolds', children's book, Rose's Garden in August. Inspired by Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy and the work she did to make Boston a beautiful place, the book features a gorgeous garden much like The Greenway that winds through Boston's downtown. At the end of August, walk The Greenway and read "Rose's Garden" on a unique series of signage featuring pages of the book. This StoryWalk will be visible in The Greenway's Wharf District Parks.
Join Us on Aug. 25, 2018
To cap off a fabulous summer, join us on Aug. 25, for The Greenway's final Downtown Playdate. This event takes place on Parcel 14 in the Wharf District at the Tiffany & Company Foundation Grove Greenway Carousel which also is where the Mother's Walk (dedicated to Rose's memory) ends. The event will feature a photo opportunity at 1 p.m. All are invited to bring their flowers to the lawn on parcel 14 (between Mercantile St. and State St.) for a group photo in the garden we create.
Just like in the book, the paper flowers children bring to "brighten" Rose's garden. Let's consider how can we "brighten" and better our cities and communities. Make a promise and create a flower as a symbol of the ways in which you promise to help make your cities, neighborhoods, communities, and world a better and brighter place full of hope.
The paper flowers help us consider the ways we can be resilient and make change. Take your flower home to remind you of the promises you've made and how you will enact change in your community. The Greenway asks that flowers be taken home at the end of the Aug. 25 event, as they are not equipped or appropriate for paper flowers on a long-term basis.
